Woman arrested in South London over suspicion of funding terrorism activities
A woman has been arrested and remains in custody in South London after being suspected of funding terrorism, the Met Police have said.
The 31-year-old woman, whose identity remains unknown at present, was arrested by officers from the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command early this morning (August 5).
A spokesperson for the Met Police said they took her to a South London police station where she remains at present as inquiries into her suspected links to terrorism continue.
In a statement published by the Met on Wednesday, a spokesperson said:
“On Wednesday, 5 August, at approximately 07.30hrs, officers from the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command arrested a 31-year-old woman on suspicion of funding terrorism, contrary to Section 17 of the Terrorism Act 2000.
“The woman was arrested under the Police and Criminal Evidence Act [PACE] at an address in north-west London.
“She has been taken into custody at a south London police station.”
The woman is thought to be a resident of North-West London and the Met said their inquiries continue at an address in North London.
