Wissam al Tawil
Terror organization: Hezbollah
Status: Commander of the Radwan unit.
Role: He was an operative since 1989. He had close relations with the elite leadership of Hezbollah and Quds Force. In 2006 he participated in the kidnapping of IDF soldiers at the Lebanese border which led to the outbreak of the Second Lebanon War. He was the most dominant figure inside the Radwan unit so de facto he had a massive influence. He received the command of the unit officially not long ago before he was eliminated.
Al Tawil held several leadership positions in Hezbollah, where he headed the field of industrialization and military development, and was also responsible for foreign operations.
He had an active role cooperating with the Syrian regime in killing Syrians. He was active in the southern region of Syria, and at the same time engaged in training regime forces in monitoring operations, conducting artillery fire and dealing with anti-aircraft missiles.
Al-Tawil was also responsible for gathering information and preparing war plans against Israel from Syrian territory.
Hezbollah defined Tawil as the “Shahid and commander”, and was the first out of four in the organization to receive this nickname. After him came by Muhammad Naama Nasser, Abu Taleb and Wahbi.
