Wife of slain terror group leader detained in Sarangani for drugs and bombs
Police intelligence operatives arrested the wife of the slain leader of the local terrorist group Ansar Al-Khilafah in Kiamba, Sarangani last Thursday.
Police Lt. Col. Narciso Langcauon, chief of the PNP Socsargen Regional Intelligence Unit, identified the suspect as Marife Maguid, wife of Mohamad Jaafar Maguid, alias “Commander Tokboy,” the leader of ISIS-inspired AKP local terror group who was slain in an encounter with security forces in a beach resort in Kiamba in January 2017.
Police said the suspect was arrested in Poblacion, Kiamba based on a arrest warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Judge Oscar Noel for illegal drugs and illegal possession of explosives.
The case stemmed from the raid conducted on the house of the suspect in Barangay Nalus, Kiamba on July 19, 2017 which yielded several grams of shabu and a rifle grenade.
The suspect managed to escape during the raid and went into hiding for almost four years. Authorities said the suspect used to provide financial and logistical support to the AKP terror.
Police tagged the AKP terror group as responsible for bomb attacks and criminal activities including gun-for-hire, carnapping, and illegal drugs trade in the South Cotabato-Sarangani-General Santos (Socsargen) area.
