Welcome to hell: Inside the supermax prison ISIS ‘Beatles’ gang face after capture
Two Britons and accused members of the ISIS death squad dubbed ‘The Beatles’ gang face being sent to the US’s highest-security prison after they were captured by coalition forces in Syria.
The ADX Florence ‘supermax’ jail in Colorado has been described as “a clean version of hell” and “much worse than death” by former warden Robert Hood.
Alexanda Kotey, 34, and El Shafee Elsheikh, 29, both from London, have been accused of being part of a brutal death squad who killed more than 20 people, including British aid workers Alan Henning and David Haines.
The pair, who have reportedly now been stripped of their British citizenship, were arrested in Syria by Kurdish forces last month and handed over to US special forces.
If tried and convicted in the US courts Kotey and Elsheikh are likely to end up in solitary confinement in the notorious H-Unit block of ADX Florence where several other British terrorists are imprisoned.
