At least 14 villages are cleared from ISIS remnants in Kirkuk
At least 14 villages in the district of Hawija in Kirkuk province were cleared from the Islamic State (IS) remnants on Tuesday, a report said.
Federal police chief Raed Shawkat said that the 14 villages were “completely” rescued from the extremist group’s remnants.
“The troops also seized a terrorist hotbed of Islamic State in northern Hawija, in addition to a tunnel filled with explosive charges,” Shawkat added, as cited by Iraqi News.
The insurgents, earlier on Monday, exploded an electricity pylon in Hawija which caused power outage in the the district, according to the report.
