US Kills 10 Al-Shabaab Terrorists in Somali Airstrike, Says No Civilian Hurt | Firstpost Africa
The United States said that it had conducted an airstrike in Somalia that killed at least 10 Al-Qaeda-linked Al-Shabaab terrorists.
In a statement, it said that the self-defence airstrikes were conducted at the request of the Somali Federal Government.
The U.S. further said it had provided support to Somali forces by evacuating soldiers who were attacked while fighting the terrorist group.
Somalia has endured decades of civil war and has also seen jihadist violence. It has undertaken several efforts to counter the growing threats from insurgents and has partnered with the U.S. too.
The U.S. has been regularly conducting airstrikes on insurgent groups. In 2024, it had conducted 10 airstrikes.
However, will the U.S. increase its airstrikes as Donald Trump returns to the White House on January 20?
