US Embassy in Moscow warns US citizens of terrorist attacks in Russia
The American embassy urged its citizens living in Russia to consider leaving the country due to the high risk of terrorist attacks in public places.
A warning for American citizens is published on the official website of the diplomatic mission.
The document, in particular, states that “there were threats of attacks on shopping centers, railway stations and subway stations”.
According to the embassy, other crowded places in large cities, including Moscow and St. Petersburg, are also at risk. Another dangerous point is the areas of “high tension along the border of Russia with Ukraine”, Interfax notes.
Earlier it was reported that against the background of the aggravation of the situation in the Donbass, the US leadership warned its citizens about the undesirability of staying on the territory of Ukraine.
As tensions between Ukraine and Russia escalate and fears of an impending war intensify, the US and several other countries began evacuating the families of diplomats from Kiev, and also appealed to their citizens to refrain from traveling to Ukraine for security reasons.
Since February 17, ceasefire violations have become more frequent on the line of contact in Donbass. On the territory of the DPR and LPR, the evacuation of the civilian population and the mobilization of men capable of holding weapons have been announced.
Since February 18, the flow of refugees has poured into the border regions of the Russian Federation, whose authorities were forced to declare a state of emergency on their territories.
