Two terrorists killed in gunfire exchange with the army forces in Burkina Faso
The Burkina Faso army has killed two suspected terrorists during gunfire exchange at the Belhouro locality in the northern Soum province.
“A patrol of security task forces to the northern region of the country was ambushed on Wednesday in the Belhouro zone. Two terrorists were killed in the response,” security source told Xinhua on Thursday in the capital Ouagadougou.
According to the source, the operation also enabled the recovery of arsenals and motorbikes.
Burkina Faso is marred by a worsening security situation in northern regions. To curb the scourge, Burkina Faso army has stepped up security measures with airstrikes and ground operations in some most troubled areas of the country.
Since 2015, terrorist attacks have claimed the lives of over 700 people, including 200 armed forces soldiers, and displaced thousands of others in the West-African country.
