Two policemen martyred as terrorists storm police check-post in Orakzai

Two cops embraced martyrdom when terrorists attacked a police checkpost in upper parts of the Orakzai tribal district early Thursday, official sources said.

The sources said a group of terrorists stormed the Arghanjo police checkpost in the Mamozai area of upper Orakzai and opened fire at the cops deployed there. Two policemen, Akhtar Janan and Yahya embraced martyrdom in the attack. Another cop, Latif Khan, returned the fire and forced the assailants to escape.

The police and security forces personnel rushed to the area after the attack and cordoned off the site. A search operation was launched but no information about any arrests of suspects was made available.

The bodies of the martyred cops were shifted to the Orakzai district headquarters in Hangu where their funeral prayers were offered. Among those who attended the Namaz-e-Janaza were District Police Officer Nisar Ahmad Khan, Commandant of Orakzai Scouts Col Zakir Khan, and Deputy Commissioner Wasil Khan. The bodies of the martyrs were later dispatched to their native areas for burial.
