Two people killed and eight other injured in Mazar-i-Sharif twin blasts
Two people were killed while eight others were wounded in two explosions in Mazar-i-Sharif, capital of Afghanistan’s northern Balkh province, on Wednesday night, police said.
The first blast happened around 9:00 p.m., which was triggered by explosives placed in roadside greenery near 200-bed military hospital, said Adil Shah Adil, a spokesman for provincial police.
As security forces arrived at the scene, a second explosion went off, he said. One civilian and one member of security forces were killed, while eight others including four security forces were injured in the blasts, the official said.
Deputy police chief of the city’s District 3 was among those injured. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the blasts.
