Türkiye apprehends 6 Daesh terrorist suspects sought by Interpol

Turkish authorities apprehended six individuals suspected of being affiliated with the terrorist organization Daesh, who were sought by Interpol in the southern region of the country, as per an official source on Sunday.

Teams focused on combating terrorism carried out an operation in the Seyhan district of Adana province, conducting searches of residences where these suspects were believed to be hiding, the source, who requested anonymity due to lack of authorization to speak to the press, revealed.

Among the six individuals, two, known only by the initials M.A.B. and A.S.A., remain under arrest, while the other four have been expelled from the country. The source noted that all of them were subjects of Interpol red notices following the issuance of warrants by their respective nations.

In 2013, Türkiye was among the first countries to designate Daesh as a terrorist organization.

Since then, the country has faced numerous attacks from the terrorist group, resulting in the deaths of over 300 individuals and the injury of hundreds in at least 10 suicide bombings, seven explosive assaults, and four armed attacks. In response, Türkiye has initiated domestic and international counterterrorism operations to forestall further assaults.
