Turkish authorities arrested four people over Islamic State propaganda on social media
A court in the western province of Bursa on Sept. 14 arrested four people on charges of “spreading propaganda” of the ISIS on social media, Turkish media outlets reported.
The arrest came after police determined that five people residing in Bursa and the southern province of Mersin posted propaganda favoring the terror group on social media.
In simultaneously held operations, the police detained these individuals, seizing several digital materials and telephones at their residences. The authorities analyzed the relevant digital materials and determined that the suspects were collecting videos and photographs to spread them and to get followers on social media.
The suspects were referred to the courthouse, with a demand of their arrest. Four of them were arrested by a court order, whereas one was released under judicial control order.
