Turkey prevented at least 12 terror attacks in the past three years because of Israeli intel

Israeli intelligence has helped Turkish security services to prevent 12 terror attacks in the past three years, the Jerusalem Post said on Tuesday, citing a report from Israeli Channel 12.

The Mossad and the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF)’s intelligence branch helped anti-terror operation in 20 countries against 50 terror attacks by ISIS and Iran during the same period, the newspaper said.

The report shows that despite tensions between the two governments, Israeli’s security services has continued providing intel to Turkey.

Ankara last year recalled its ambassador to Israel and expelled the Israeli ambassador in Ankara in response to Israeli security forces killing and injuring Palestinians protesting the opening of a new U.S. embassy in Jerusalem.

Turkey previously recalled its ambassador to Israel in 2010 in the wake of an incident in which Israeli security forces raided a ship belonging to a Turkish aid organisation on its way to Gaza, killing nine activists.

Turkey objects to Israeli plans to push for the recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of the country and to expand Israeli settlements in the West Bank. Ankara and Tel Aviv are also rivals in the ongoing regional competition over hydrocarbon resources in the eastern Mediterranean.
