Turkey court sentenced Islamic State terrorist to house arrest for two months
A Turkish court has sentenced ISIS member Arkan Taha Ahmad, one of the perpetrators of the Speicher Massacre in which 1,700 people were killed in Iraq, to house arrest for two months, Sputnik News reported on Saturday.
The anti-terror police captured Arkan Taha Ahmad in a morning operation in Bolu province. Ahmad is accused of being involved in activities within ISIS for which he was sought after by Interpol, Sputnik said.
He was taken into custody following the operation, which was carried out under wide security measures.
Ahmad has been arrested for participating in the Camp Speicher massacre in which up to 1,700 people were massacred by ISIS in the Iraqi city of Tikrit in June 2014. He was transferred to the courthouse after his proceedings, Sputnik said.
Ahmad has been sentenced to two months house arrest by the court in Bolu.
