Troops repel terrorists in Borno, lose three soldiers
Three soldiers were killed as troops of Operation Hadin Kai repelled a terrorist attack in Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State on Monday.
According to a statement from the Defence Headquarters, the attack was launched by Boko Haram terrorists mounted on gun trucks and motorcycles.
It added that they attempted to breach the camp using a Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED) from the Gudumbali axis.
The troops responded with overwhelming firepower, supported by the Air Component and the Nigerian Army’s Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Command. In the ensuing battle, 12 terrorists were killed, and several items were recovered, including AK-47 rifles, RPG bombs, anti-aircraft guns, and motorcycles.
Additionally, four of the seven VBIEDs used by the terrorists were destroyed.
While the troops were able to neutralize many of the attackers, three soldiers lost their lives in the confrontation.
The Defence Headquarters reassured that efforts to secure the area continue, with house-to-house searches underway.
The statement reaffirmed Operation Hadin Kai’s commitment to eliminating terrorism in the Northeast and promoting socio-economic stability in the region.
