Iraqi troops kill three Islamic State suicide bombers in Mosul
Iraqi security forces and pro-government fighters killed on Monday three Islamic State suicide bombers in Mosul city.
“Acting upon intelligence reports, security forces and paramilitary fighters of al-Hashd al-Shaabi killed three suicide bombers of the Islamic State terrorist group in the town of Qairawan, west of Mosul,” Alghad Press quoted the media center of al-Hashd al-Shaabi as saying in a press statement.
The three terrorists had sneaked into the district with an aim to carry out terrorist attacks there, the statement read.
Former Iraqi prime minister Haider al-Abadi announced in July 2017 liberation of the second largest Iraqi city of Mosul from IS militants, who had captured it in 2014. More than 25,000 militants were killed throughout the campaign, which started in October 2016.
