Total of 112 terrorists eliminated since 2016 by the Tunisian security forces

A total of 112 “terrorists” have been eliminated and a lot of arms and ammunition seized in Tunisia since 2016, the interior ministry announced on Wednesday.

“The ministry has adopted a sectoral strategy in its fight against terrorism and has foiled several terrorist plans which targeted vital and sensitive institutions as well as official figures,” said Daoud Khedhir, senior police commissioner at the counter-terrorism department.

At a national conference themed “Young people against terrorism,” Khedhir added that security units have successfully detected several “terrorist” cells and seized weapons and explosives.

He stressed that monitoring the virtual space, which is the best way to recruit supporters of “terrorist” groups, has also been part of the ministry’s strategy.
