Three more Islamic State hideouts destroyed in Kirkuk
At least three more hideouts belonging to the Islamic State (IS) were destroyed in the disputed Kurdish province of Kirkuk on Thursday.
Iraq’s security media cell said that the three hideouts were found during a military campaign by the federal police and the joint operations forces in Kirkuk conducted in efforts to clear the region of the insurgent group.
Meanwhile, the forces also seized 32 bombs which were defused by experts.
Hiwa Rasheed, a Kurdistan Democratic Party’s (KDP) representative in the area, told BasNews that the IS movements have dramatically increased in the region as the Iraqi forces, he said, are not expanding their operations to the rural areas.
