Three Islamic State hideouts were found in the disputed Kurdish province of Kirkuk
Three new hideouts belonging to the Islamic State (IS) were found in the disputed Kurdish province of Kirkuk on Thursday.
According to the information BasNews has obtained, the hideouts were discovered during an operation by the Iraqi federal police forces in the area of Zaighatwn of Kirkuk province.
They also seized weapons and other military equipment, including Katyusha rockets, magazines, bullets, and a number of explosive devices.
Concerning an increase in the Islamic State’s movements in the province, Adil Kakayi, a military expert, told BasNews that the insurgent group “cannot be eradicated with a few operations by the Iraqi forces.”
He also argued that the extremist group could regroup itself and increase its terrorist activities in the country “if the political deadlock continues like this.”
