The Syrian Democratic Forces captured senior Islamic State member
The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) on Wednesday said it had captured a senior member of the Islamic State (IS) in the southern countryside of Hasakah.
According to a statement by the SDF, the insurgent was captured during an operation by the Kurdish fighters’ special units backed by the US-led Coalition warplanes.
It also explained that the IS leader was responsible “for financing and equipping [the group’s] sleeper_cells in the region.”
Backed by the international coalition forces, the SDF played a key role in the fight against the Islamic State in Syria.
