The Islamic State abducts seven people in Qara Tapa
The jihadists of the Islamic State (IS) have abducted seven people in the disputed town of Qara Tapa, Diyala province, a report said on Thursday.
Kurdistan 24 cited its corespondent in the area as saying that the militants had set up a fake checkpoint near the village of Qariyatakh, Qara Tapa town, where they kidnapped two drivers and five passengers.
The two drivers were from disputed Kurdish town of Khanaqin, while the five other individuals belonged to Qara Tapa, the report added.
The incident came less than a week after the insurgents carried out an attack on the Iraqi army in Daquq town, where they killed two soldiers.
