At least 30 Taliban and ISIS terrorists surrender in Nangarhar
Thirty Taliban and Daesh militants have joined the peace process and turned in their weapons in eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Thursday.
The reconciling rebels surrendered 32 light and heavy weapons, Nangarhar governor’s spokesman Attaullah Khogyani told a press conference in connection with the surrender in Jalalabad, the provincial capital.
Before joining the peace process, the former fighters for years had been active against the government in Momand Dara, Khogyani, Sherzad, Ghanikhel, Achin and Nazian districts, the official said, adding the surrendering rebels included 16 Daesh and 14 Taliban affiliates.
Khogyani said security forces had stepped up their operations against militants in a number of districts, compelling the rebels to reconcile.
