Moscow Court gives two ISIS terrorists 15 years jail term for plotting terror attacks in Russia
The Moscow District Military Court on Monday sentenced two militants from the ISIS terrorist group to 15 years in prison each for preparing terrorist attacks on a train in Moscow and at a shopping mall in the Moscow suburb, a Sputnik correspondent reported from a courtroom.
“To give Bakhtier Makhmudov and Zafarkhon Rakhmatov 15 years in a high-security colony for multiple offences,” a judge said.
Both men were detained on 11 December 2017, a day before a planned terrorist attack. During the search, police found detonators and other materials used to make bombs.
“They downloaded a video showing how to make an explosive device, and planned to detonate it at the Moscow Ring Railway station Shelepikha and the Edelweiss shopping centre in Balashikha [a town near Moscow],” a prosecutor said.
Both terrorists pleaded guilty and asked for indulgence, the court’s press service told Sputnik. The ruling can be appealed within 10 days.
