ISIS terrorists from Syria arrested by police in motorway chase ahead of terror operation
The masked members of the Special Operations Commando (SEK) toted machine guns whose stocks they used to smash in the windows of the estate car the Islamic State unit was travelling in along the A14 motorway in Saxony, eastern Germany.
The men were hauled from the vehicle to the hard shoulder where they were handcuffed and placed on the grass bank before reinforcements arrived to take them away for questioning.
The arrests came after police received a tip off that the men – all Syrians – were raising money for terror operations in Europe.
All suspects were found to have drugs on them. After the arrests police said: “Searches and arrests were made in connection with the support of Islamic State in Syria.
“Enquiries are ongoing.”
The arrests were made as the suspects’ car made to exit the autobahn at Mügeln near Leipzig and an unidentified police car in front slowed to allow the SEK squad to swoop down on it.
Just this week authorities said the number of potentially violent Islamist terrorists in Germany had spiked to nearly 800.
Keeping track of them all is proving to be a full time job for Germany’s domestic intelligence agency.
