20 terrorists killed in operation in Hiran region
Somali National Army [SNA] forces, along with locals and international partners, have killed at least 20 terrorists from Al Shabab in a joint operation carried out on Wednesday in Hiran region.
Wednesday’s operation led by Gen. Mohamed Ahmed Taredishe, the commander of the 46th Battalion of SNA was conducted in Shaw area as the coalition forces targeted a minibus carrying the terrorists, leaving 20 of them dead.
Gen. Taredishe said that some of the terrorists they killed had run away from Adaley area near Mahaday town during Tuesday’s military operation.
“We’ve gained a major victory in our battle against the terrorists. We killed 20 of them while trying to run for their lives. We continue to hunt them down until they are eradicated”, he added.
For the last 24 hours, 150 terrorists were killed in intense operations in several regions in south and central Somalia as the coalition forces dealt a heavy blow to the terrorists.
However, Somali national army forces have proven to be capable of defeating the terrorist group of Al Shabab – an al Qaeda-linked group. The army also captured many areas the group had been using as bases to plan attacks, including suicide car bombs in the capital Mogadishu.
