At least 15 ISIS terrorists are detained in Mosul by the Iraqi forces
At least 15 extremist members of the Islamic State (IS) were captured in the group’s previously stronghold city of Mosul on Monday, a security official said.
“Acting upon intelligence reports, the Nineveh police arrested 15 Islamic State members in different parts of Mosul, for whom arrest warrants were issued,” Maj. Gen. Saad Maan, a spokesperson for the Iraqi Ministry of Interior was quoted by Almaalomah news agency, as cited by Iraqi News.
The official explained that eight of the militants were arrested while trying to give money to some Mosul families, the reports added, noting that the insurgents were captured in the eastern and western sides of the city.
The group was declared defeated in December, last year, but its sleeper cells have continued carrying out terrorist activities in most liberated areas.
