ISIS terrorists blocked the Kirkuk-Baghdad highway for hours and killed nine civilians

As the Islamic State (IS) has lately regrouped itself in the absence of the Peshmerga forces in the disputed territories, the group’s jihadists reportedly blocked the main road between Kirkuk and Baghdad provinces for about six hours overnight on Monday, said a security official.

Mohammed Omer, head of a Patriotic Union of Kurdistan’s (PUK) headquarters in Qara Tapa, confirmed to BasNews that the extremists blocked the highway at around 10:00 pm (Erbil time) until 4:00 am near the town of al- Ozeim.

Meanwhile, Kurdistan 24 reported that at least nine people were killed and kidnapped in a fake checkpoint of the insurgents on Sunday night.

The Iraqi government declared “full victory” over the IS in December, last year, but the extremist group has reorganized itself and continue to carry out terrorist attacks against the national security forces and civilians.
