ISIS terrorists are attempting to expand foothold in Parwan province of Afghanistan
The provincial governor of northern Parwan province Fazaluddin Ayar has warned regarding the ongoing attempts by the ISIS terrorist group to expand foothold in this province.
Ayar warned regarding the threats the province is facing as he was speaking during a gathering on Tuesday.
He said certain circles are attempting to pave the way for the expansion of the foothold of ISIS loyalists in Parwan province but he did not provide further details in this regard.
The loyalists of the terror group are currently active in some parts of Jawzjan province as well as Faryba in the North.
This comes as reports emerged few months earlier suggesting that some signs of the ISIS activities have also been seen in northern Balkh province.
However, the counter-terrorism operations including airstrikes are underway against the terror group in Jawzjan, Faryab, and other parts of the country and a top leader of the terror group was killed during an operation in Jawzjan province few days ago.
The NATO Special Operations Component Command-Afghanistan in a report had earlier stated that a U.S. airstrike killed Qari Hikmatullah and his bodyguard in Bal Chiragh district, Faryab province, Afghanistan, Apr. 5, 2018. At the time of his death, Hikmatullah was the senior ISIS-K commander and the main facilitator of ISIS-K fighters into northern Afghanistan.
