Islamic State terrorists attacked security outpost in western Iraq
Islamic State militants wounded a number of Iraq security members after an attack on their outpost in Anbar province, security sources were quoted saying.
Baghdad Today quoted the sources saying that militants attacked the special operations regiment headquarter west of Ramadi. Four members, including an officer, were wounded in the attack, according to the source.
Iraq declared victory over Islamic State militants and the recapture of all territories under their control late 2017, and claimed control over the western borders with Syria. But occasional attacks across the country continue to claim civilian and security forces’ lives. Iraqi forces have occasionally launched attacks against IS locations in neighboring Syria, with Baghdad and Damascus officials hinting to mutual coordination in that respect.
