ISIS terrorists attacked police forces in Khanaqin
A group of Islamic State (IS) insurgents attacked on Tuesday night a unit of the Iraqi Federal Police in the disputed Kurdish town of Khanaqin, in Diyala province, killing one policeman and injuring five others, an official said.
Head of local administrative council, Samir Mohammed, told Kurdistan 24 that the extremists carried out the surprise attack near the village of Mubarak, noting that the killed was taken to the forensic department while the injured to the Khanaqin General Hospital.
Former Iraqi government announced the Islamic State as defeated a year ago, while the militant group’s sleeper cells are still active in most liberated areas.
