ISIS terrorists attacked Iraqi police checkpoint and killed three people
Islamic State (IS) militants overnight on Monday carried out a surprise attack against a checkpoint of Iraqi federal police in Kirkuk province.
The attack, which led to fire exchange between the jihadists and police forces, took place near Kalor village, between Kirkuk and Prde.
At least three Iraqi soldiers were killed and two others were injured, according to the information obtained by BasNews.
Since October 2017, Kirkuk is under the control of the Iraqi forces and pro-Iranian Shi’ite militias of Hashd al-Shaabi. The province is facing serious security challenge as the Iraqi forces struggle to secure the region against the IS sleeper cells.
