ISIS terrorists attacked Iraqi federal police forces in central Kirkuk
The Islamic State (IS) militants carried out another attack against a unit of Iraq federal police forces in central Kirkuk on Wednesday.
The Iraqi forces came under attack in the industrial zone of Kirkuk. It led to heavy fire exchange, an informed source told BasNews.
Casualties were not known immediately.
Earlier the day, the federal police said in a statement that their forces were also attacked in Hawija on Tuesday.
The statement said the attack was carried out via a truck rigged with explosives. “It went off while the federal police forces were conducting a search operation,” reads the statement.
Kirkuk, together with areas liberated from IS, remain the main targets for terror attacks. Iraqi forces are often blamed for failing to secure the region and protect civilians despite having declared the entire country already liberated.
