Terrorists attack troops in Zamfara, kill soldier
Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication focused on the Lake Chad region, reports that the attack occurred along the Gurusu-Gwashi road in Gwashi, Anka LGA of Zamfara state.
Makama noted that the troops responded to the ambush and engaged the terrorists in “a heavy gun battle, forcing them to withdraw.”
“Tragically, one soldier paid the supreme price during the encounter as he attempted to flank the attackers,” the report reads.
“In response to the ambush, reinforcements were quickly mobilised from a nearby military formation.
“However, by the time the reinforcements arrived, the terrorists had already fled the area.”
