Two Islamic State terrorists arrested in Anbar’s Fallujah
Two Islamic State members were arrested in a security operation in Fallujah, Anbar, a security source from the province said on Thursday.
Speaking to BasNews website, the source said “information from the intelligence department enabled security forces to arrest two Islamic State members in an operation that targeted Nezal and Jubail districts in Fallujah. Weapons and fake ID cards were found in their possession.”
“Preliminary information revealed about a terrorist scheme that was going to be carried out by the two militants,” the source added.
“Security services transferred the militants to detention cell in Ramadi for investigations,” according to the source.
Islamic State continues to launch sporadic attacks across Iraq against troops. Security reports indicate that the militant group still poses threat against stability in the country. The group still has dormant cells, through which it carries out attacks, across Iraq like it used to do before 2014.
Thousands of Islamic State militants as well as Iraqi civilians were killed since the government campaign, backed by paramilitary troops and the coalition was launched in October 2016.
In December, the Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi announced gaining control on all the territories that were captured by Islamic State, since 2014.
