ISIS terrorist group threat to the Kurdish villagers in Khanaqin
The Islamic State (IS) insurgents have begun to threaten the Kurdish villagers in the disputed Kurdish city of Khanaqin, an official said on Thursday.
The Peshmerga commander in the area told Kurdistan 24 that the residents have called for the deployment of the Kurdistan Region’s Peshmerga forces to the territory, while the Kurdish fighters argue that they cannot make any such moves without an official command by the ministry.
The jihadists have committed several crimes in the region in the past two weeks, including attacking the Iraqi Police units and civilians in the city.
Over 20 Kurdish and Arab villages have so far been evacuated in Khanaqin and the surrounding territories as a result of the terrorist activities conducted by the militants in the past few months.
