Terrorist supporter caught in Riga: explosives, munitions and propaganda materials confiscated
On the 2nd of May, Latvian State Security Service (VDD) detained some non-citizen suspected of training for terrorism and distributing terrorist propaganda to other persons.
The service determined in an investigation that the detained person supports ideology of Daesh group of Islamic terrorists. The service found the suspect was in active communication with the extremist and terrorist group’s supporters on Telegram social network. There they spread ideological materials of the terrorist group, as well as various instructions for terror acts.
VDD performed investigative actions in the person’s home on the 2nd of May.
During the search, law enforcers confiscated multiple data storage devices, notes, documents, as well as explosives and munitions, explains the service.
The suspect was placed under arrest. The criminal procedure was launched on the 22nd of April.
