ISIS terrorist group released new images of the Bourke Street terrorist trying to stab a police officer
Islamic State-aligned groups are using the Bourke Street terror attack as leverage to instill fear across Australia.
The Melbourne attack saw Somali-born terrorist Hassan Khalif Shire Ali park a four-wheel drive laden with gas cylinders in the CBD and stab three men.
ISIS related groups have since released new propaganda with images of the Bourke Street attack on November 9, The Australian reported.
Following the terror attack, Islamic State-linked group Sunni Shield Media Foundation released posters that read: ‘Australia, don’t think you are away from our attacks’.
Some of the posters show Shire Ali attempting to stab a police officer, while other show the four-wheel drive that was set alight.
The publication found that up to 10 people of the 240 who have been refused Australian passports or had them cancelled were involved in terror-related attacks.
All 10 people have either launched attacks or were convicted of planning an attack since 2014.
Among them is Numan Haider, who was refused a passport and later attacked police with a knife before being shot outside a police station in Melbourne.
Shire Ali’s passport was cancelled in 2015.
Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton and Opposition Leader Bill Shorten have both condemned ISIS’ new propaganda.
‘This demonstration shows their evil minds at work,’ Mr Dutton said.
‘We will continue our efforts to counter propaganda and gather intelligence to defeat the scourge.’
Mr Shorten urged internet providers and social media companies to stop the spread of the impressionable propaganda.
‘We all have an obligation to ensure it is not disseminated further and doesn’t reach vulnerable young people,’ the Opposition Leader said.
After the horrific terror attack, Islamic State claimed Shire Ali was an Islamic State fighter and conducted the attack under them, but there was no evidence to confirm.
