ISIS terrorist group is planning to drag Israel into a war against the Gaza Strip
In a research conducted by Israeli military and intelligence officials and in the wake of repeated rocket attacks launched from Sinai towards Eilat and its vicinity, chances are that ISIS hardliners seek to drag Israel into another war against the Gaza Strip.
The second war would be in retaliation for the Hamas leadership becoming closer to the Egyptian authorities.
Terror group ISIS on Tuesday evening claimed responsibility for firing two rockets on the Eshkol Regional Council in southern Israel on Monday.
A statement quoted by the Amaq news agency, one of ISIS’ chief propaganda outlets, said “ISIS fighters yesterday attacked the residents of the Israeli Eshkol region with two Katyusha-type rockets, south of Palestine.”
The Israel Defense Forces said on Monday that the two rockets were fired into Israel from the Egyptian-controlled Sinai Peninsula.
The rockets landed in open areas in the Eshkol region in the western Negev. No injuries or damages were reported.
The rocket attack came a day after ISIS claimed that five members of its Sinai Peninsula branch were killed in an Israeli drone attack on Saturday night.
The attack took place near the Sinai border with the Gaza Strip, outside of the city of Rafah.
Earlier this month, four rockets were fired from the Sinai Peninsula towards Eilat. Three of the rockets were intercepted by the Iron Dome anti-missile system, while the fourth rocket exploded in an open area.
Even though both incidents reported no casualties, ISIS seeks to establish a new balance, whereby Israel pays up for aiding Egyptian security forces in the war against ISIS on one hand, and is dragged to strike Hamas for warming up to Egyptian the government.
