ISIS terrorist group launched massive counter-offensive in eastern Euphrates
The Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL/IS/Daesh) launched a massive counter-offensive in the eastern region of the Euphrates River Valley last night.
Using suicide bombers to penetrate the defenses of the U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), the Islamic State was able to retake the key town of Baghouz Fouqani overnight.
The Islamic State scored this advance after they launched a big attack from their positions at the town of Murashida, which is located just north of Baghouz Fouqani.
With the capture of Baghouz Fouqani last night, the Islamic State managed to retake the high ground from the Syrian Democratic Forces near this part of the Euphrates River Valley.
Since the Islamic State launched this counter-offensive in the Euphrates River Valley, the U.S. Coalition has been pounding the terrorist group’s positions at Murashida in a bid to halt the advance.
However, despite the increased artillery and air strikes by the U.S. Coalition, the Islamic State has kept up their tempo around Murashida and Baghouz Fouqani.
The Islamic State is still on the attack against the Syrian Democratic Forces in this area, as they look to retake nearby Safafinah and Shajlah.
