Senior ISIS terrorist group leader captured in Kirkuk
The Federal Police of Iraq captured on Tuesday a senior leader of Islamic State (IS) in Kirkuk province, said a report.
Iraqi News quoted Lt. Gen. Shaker Jawdat, the chief of the Federal Police, as saying “the 20th brigade of the federal police managed to kill Fares Khales Saleh Al-Mafraji, the security official in the Islamic State’s so-called Kirkuk State, during a security operation in the Dibis district in Kirkuk.”
The police commander also announced the arrest of four IS members during an operation earlier the day in Kirkuk, as reported by the news agency.
In the meantime, another senior commander of the militant group, in charge of slaughtering people and several other crimes, identified as Haris Abu Saif Hilali was arrested in northern Mosul along with one of his sons, according to a statement by Ahmed Obeidi, a spokesperson for the police directorate in Nineveh.
The extremist group was declared defeated in December, last year, but it has once again re-emerged in most areas, continuing to carry out terrorist activities against the national security forces and civilians.
