Islamic State terrorist arrested while booby-trapping vehicle in Iraq
Iraqi security forces arrested on Sunday an Islamic State militant while he was trying to booby-trap a vehicle in the western province of Anbar, a security source said.
Speaking to Almaalomah news agency, the source said that the IS terrorist was planning to target security forces with the booby-trapped vehicle in Amiriyat Al-Smood district, in southern Fallujah.
The source added that the terrorist was moved to a detention center amid tightened security measures for interrogation.
Iraqi cities see almost daily bombings and armed attacks against security members, paramilitary troops and civilians since the Iraqi government launched a wide-scale campaign to retake Islamic State-occupied areas in 2016.
Though most of the daily bombings go without a claim of responsibility, Islamic State is expected to be behind many.
