Counter Terrorism Department arrested supplier of explosives to banned outfits
Personnel of Sindh’s Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) on Wednesday claimed arresting a man alleged to be involved in supplying explosives to banned and criminal organisations.
Incharge Mazhar Mashwani of the CTD Civil Lines said investigations regarding terrorism cases and the presence of terrorists were underway when an informant tipped him off that a man, Muhammad Anwar, was active in the South district in supplying explosives to various criminal and terrorist organisations.
Acting on information, a hunt for the suspect was started and in the wee hours of Wednesday cops carried out a raid in a locality of the Brigade police remit. After facing resistance, the police arrested Anwar and shifted him to their headquarters.
During a search of his hideout, they seized 50 sticks of explosive dynamites, 93 detonators and hundreds of metres of safety fuse wire. Mashwani added that the suspect used to supply explosive material to banned organisations and criminal groups that used them in terrorism activities. Anwar was said to belong to Mohmand Agency, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Further investigations are underway.
