Terrorism charge after police swoop on workplace in suburb in Melbourne’s north
A 29-year-old Roxburgh Park man has been arrested by counter-terrorism officers for allegedly preparing to travel overseas to engage in hostile activities.
Officers from the Joint Counter Terrorism Team swooped on the man at his workplace in suburb in Melbourne’s north just after 8.30am on Thursday.
Police said the operation, called “Operation Kozjak”, was ongoing but that they were not anticipating further arrests.
They also said the arrest was not related to any other terrorism operations.
The man will face Melbourne Magistrates Court on Friday.
“There is no ongoing threat against the Victorian community as a result of this investigation,” Victoria Police said.
