Ten-year-old child released from Islamic State after ransom paid in Jalawla
Local authorities were able to release a ten-year-old child from the Islamic State (IS) after paying a certain amount in ransom in Jalawla, Iraq’s Diyala province, an official confirmed on Saturday.
Explaining to BasNews, Bashir Abdullah, a member of the Mayoral Council of Jalawla, said that the child, alongside one of his uncles, had been kidnapped by the jihadists about two months ago, and that he was released after $ 4,000 was transferred to the insurgents.
“They had been kidnapped from the village of Eslas, in Jalawla,” Abdullah added.
He further pointed out that the fate of the uncle has so far remained unclear and he is apparently still detained by the militants.
“The Daesh militants are in talks with the family members of the abductee to wether release him or keep him in detention,” the official concluded.
