Taliban warns that the Islamic State intends to attack prisoners upon release
Taliban on Wednesday warned that they had reliable intelligence information that Islamic State militant group aims to attack their prisoners as they get released from Pul-i-Charkhi jail in Kabul.
In a statement, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claimed that an IS cell with the help intends to attack vehicles that would carry their remaining prisoners from Pul-i-Charkhi prison.
He said that the aim was to disrupt intra-Afghan talks and to take revenge from the prisoners.
He said that the Taliban was seriously concerned about the threat and called on concerned parties to take measures to prevent the attack.
Afghan government has released 4,600 Taliban prisoners and is set to free to the remaining 400 prisoners who are considered to be hard-core.
