Syrian regime forces retake positions from the Islamic State terrorists west of Deir Ezzor
Syrian regime forces have retaken control of four villages in eastern Deir Ezzor province after clashes with Daesh militants in the past 48 hours, pro regime media reported.
The clashes took place in the al-Beshri mountainous area west of Deir Ezzor city.
Activists said regime warplanes have also pounded Daesh bastions in the Syrian desert, known as al-Badiya.
For three months, regime forces and Iran proxies in eastern Syria have come under a series of ambushes, assassinations and bombings by Daesh.
Daesh has killed about thirty regime and allied fighters since last April.
Opposition factions and hardline groups have killed more than 140,000 pro-regime forces since the armed conflict erupted nine years ago, according to local monitoring groups.
