Syrian Democratic Forces detained more than 45 suspected Islamic State members

The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced on Wednesday that it had arrested more than 45 ‘suspected’ members of the Islamic State (IS) in eastern Syria.

The arrests were made during an operation by the SDF’s special units backed by the US-led Coalition forces in eastern Deir ez-Zor.

A statement by the SDF said that a total of “46 suspected ISIS members were arrested as a result of a raid conducted by our Special_units & internal_security forces supported by Coalition_forces in #Shuhail Town east of Der_Ezzor.”

The Kurdish forces in Syria, backed by the US-led Coalition, played a key role in defeating the Islamic State in the past few years.
