Syrian Defence Forces capture five Islamic State terrorists
The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said on Wednesday that its counter-terrorism units were able to capture five Islamic State (IS) members in Manbij and Raqqa regions.
“Counterterrorism units (YAT) arrested 5 members of Daesh’s sleeper cells in two separate successful raids in Raqqa and Manbij countrysides,” Mustafa Bali, a spokesperson for the SDF, wrote on Twitter, using an Arabic acronym for the IS.
The SDF also arrested four IS sleeper cells, including a senior member, in Hasakah province earlier the week.
Bali also thanked the citizens of the towns for their coordination and for staying indoors while an operation was conducted.
