Syrian army repels violent attack by Daesh terrorists
The Syrian military, supported by popular militias, repelled an offensive by hundreds of members of the terrorist group Islamic State, Daesh in Arabic, in the eastern desert of this Arab nation.
Military sources consulted by Prensa Latina affirmed that violent clashes broke out for hours between Syrian army units with the support of the National Defense Force, and the radicals who attacked several military points in the desert of Al-Tabni, in the west of the province of Deir Ezzor, some 450 kilometers northeast of Damascus, the capital.
They indicated that the regulars eliminated a number of terrorists and chased those who fled to remote areas in the desert.
Syria faces a war imposed since 2011, and although its army, with the support of its allies Russia and Iran, liberated most of the national territory from radicals, some attacks occur that Damascus attributes to groups supported from abroad to continue destabilizing the country.
