Syrian and Russian planes target Islamic State positions with over 55 airstrikes
SOHR sources have reported that Russian and regime fighter jets executed intensive airstrikes in the past 48 hours on ISIS positions in the Syrian desert.
According to SOHR sources, over 55 airstrikes targeted positions in Ithriyah desert in Hama province, Al-Rasafah and Maadan desert in Al-Raqqah province and east Homs desert, amid confirmed reports of casualties.
Accordingly, the number of airstrikes carried out by Russian fighter jets on ISIS positions and hideouts in the Syrian desert since early May 2022 has risen to nearly 290.
On May 6, SOHR activists reported the arrival of military reinforcement brought in by Russian-backed Palestinian militias of “Liwaa Al-Quds” to Al-Bokamal and Al-Asharah deserts in Deir Ezzor.
The reinforcement, which comprised four-wheel drive vehicles (4×4), heavy machineguns, and dozens of militiamen, came in preparation for a combing operation in search for ISIS cells. Meanwhile, Russian fighter jets were seen flying over the area.
